Divide and rule

In the wake of Rahul Gandhi's start of political campaign in Uttar Pradesh (UP) for the upcoming assembly elections in the state; Mayawati the current chief minister of UP on tuesday introduced a new resolution to divide the state into four parts. She said that such division of the state will result in effective administration. Currently the state has 70 districts and Mayawati government is unable to control administration of such huge number of districts.
Rahul Gandhi on Monday said that the UP government is unable to run the state and that is the reason people from here go to Maharashtra and Punjab and start begging for jobs. In response to the statement made by Rahul Gandhi, ShivSena executive president Uddhav Thakrey quoted, "When we say it hurts and when they say it is fine". MNS chief Raj Thakrey also added, "Gandhi family is responsible behind such condition of UP and that Rahul Gandhi needs a tution".
The next day Mayawati government which has so far been unable to handle the administration in the state has proposed the division of UP into four parts with new states namely Paschim Pradesh, Awadh Pradesh, Bundelkhand and Poorvanchal. With the introduction of this resolution some parties opposed the resolution while some parties were in favor of the new decision. The resolution is yet to receive a green signal from the Central government.
The divide and rule policy is not a new thing in India. It has been followed since the British times. The British unable to stop the rising movement in Bengal against them decided to divide Bengal with two provinces with the eastern part known as East Bengal (now Bangladesh) and the western part known as West Bengal. It was not the only divide and rule policy applied by the British. They even created a rift between Hindus and Muslims; the effect of which can still be seen today. It had cost us the divide of India creating a new nation state Pakistan.
Now that time has changed, this decision taken by Mayawati is very intelligent.Firstly intelligent in terms of the forthcoming assembly elections gaining support of few parties for this decision who are currently against the Mayawati government. Secondly intelligent in terms of an effective administrator which she hasn't been so far. The division of Uttar Pradesh in real sense is a step towards welfare and development of the people living in that constituency. With this there can be individual attention on the states after division which will see more
urbanization; which in turn will benefit the people by providing them more employment opportunities. Not only this smaller areas to rule will help the people gain confidence in their government which is not possible with bigger areas. For example: currently Uttar Pradesh is the second largest state of India. But if we talk about the  developed cities of Uttar Pradesh we see hardly 2 to 3 names in the list with Lucknow, Noida and Kanpur. In contradiction if we consider Maharashtra we can find many developed cities like Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Pune and Nagpur.
A simple point to explain whether this division is justified or not is peeping in your own lives. Nowadays, most of the families prefer to stay in nuclear family rather than joint family. The reason is very simple: If you stay in nuclear family you will have less expenses and you'll concentrate only on you, your partner's and your heir's expenditure rather than contributing on the expenses which is not related with your family. Moreover you will have a peaceful life and not have the tensions of a joint family.

Revolution needed in thinking

Its an irony for our country that we are headed towards a new milestone and yet majority of government schools do not even have a proper education infrastructure. While the government is set to provide the emerging students of this country a new revolution of technology, the question arises whether the new Aakash tablet will be beneficial to them or not? The Aakash in its launch was initially posed a challenge to the existing tablets in the maket; with its extremely low price as compared to other tablets priced above Rs 25,000. Aakash tablets come at a very affordable price of Rs 3,500 in the market and the government has set its price at Rs 1,600 for college and school students. The government isn't seeking to challenge any private firm with its launch but is in the view of revolutionizing education in  India.
The so called India's version of tablet has been very popular since its launch. But the question arises that whether students will be in benefit after getting this tablet or not? Launched as an educational device by the government this device has the complete potential to divert student's mind from education to fun activities. For instance the mobile phone initially was launched to fulfill the purpose of communication. But now it has become a device that is used for listening music, video calling, internet surfing, sharing videos which has its own positive and negative points.
The tablet which is the next generation of mobile phone also has the same features but it has additional feature of computers which makes it a little different product from mobiles. Today's youth is already loaded with lots of technical items; be it computer, laptop, mobile phones, I-pod and so on. With so much technical items all around a new product is yet to find its place in youth despite few of the people have already purchased the tablets paying a higher price for it even before the launch of Aakash.
No matter the government is focused towards revolutionizing education in India but the question is whether the students from backward sections of the society will be able to use this new technology as the people of India lack in technology or we can say that they are technically illiterate. Students from rural areas are mostly deprived of technology and professors of government school though not everyone are technically illiterate. Since the condition of government run schools is the worst in our country with more than half of the staff speaking a slang language; what can you expect from a batch of such professors to teach students? The government instead should have first focused on improving the education situation in the country by providing government run schools a good batch of professors. Only then can we expect our youth to become technically literate. Since we the youth are the future of our country we should be technically advanced and for that we need a special batch of trained professors.
Contradictory to this, the condition in urban area is exactly the opposite with students being far more advanced than the professors and this creates a communication gap between the students and the professors. In such cases students start disrespecting their professors because they are not well advanced which is again not correct.Being technically advanced means the students can even misuse the device which is meant for educational purpose. Nowadays, majority of youth are also disrespecting their parents because they think that they are more advanced than them. For instance, when parents warn their children about the bad consequences of their activities they simply turn a blind ear to their words and continue doing the same things for which their parents get upset. Also being technically advanced can even lead them to cause crimes for which they can be punished. Nowadys, social networking sites have a majority of youth visiting them and spending hours on these sites and doing nothing. These leads their degradation of knowledge and they are not ready to acquire new knowledge. In fact problem with today's youth is that first they waste their time doing nothing and when exams approach they panic and thus their stress level increases and some of them in regard to this even commit suicide. The youth then blame their syllabus stating that it is loaded and they cannot tackle it and start blaming the syllabus instead of looking at their own mistakes.
In both the cases professors, parents and students are equally responsible for this scenario today. Firstly the professors and parents cannot cope up with the modern technology that is coming their way. Secondly, the parents are responsible for not nurturing their children in the right manner. If they had done so their children would have listened to them when they warn them of bad consequences. Thirdly, it is the students who consider themselves the king of technology users in urban areas and start wasting their time proudly. Every youth should remember that time is the biggest power on this earth. When nothing existed on this earth time was there and when nothing will exist time will be there. So the only thing that everyone should remember is time for it does not wait for anyone. If parents nurture their children on time they will turn out to be good human beings and if students utilise their time they will succeed in every respective field.
